Rev. Armando Gonzalez, assistant rector

Armando began the mission among Hispanics in Connecticut April 2004 and now has a core assemblage of 70 parishioners who worship and receive pastoral care in Spanish language each week. Armando and St. John’s Hispanic parishioners participate in bilingual services with the 10:15 service several times a year. On special Sundays our 12:00 Hispanic service attendance has exceeded 120 people.

Our Tutorial School program on Saturdays began in 2005 and is offered in English. The purpose of our program is to support and improve Hispanic student’s performance in School. We commence at 9:00 a. m. and run to 11:10 each Saturday. We tutor every Saturday morning from September through June except for Holidays. Our tutors are experienced school teachers. After a break with snack a Holy Eucharist with religious instruction is offered to Saint John’s children at 11:15, and finishes at noon.

Armando’s mission includes connecting and involving a new generation of Hispanic children and teens with Saint John’s Anglo congregation. More than hundred fifty children have been involved in various church programs. Saint John’s is an inclusive community in which you and your children are WELCOME.
